In "Schools would be great if it weren't for the kids" by Alfie Kohn, he points out how teachers need to be focusing harder on the kids learning than they are the kid’s grades. The article makes a great point on how these things really do matter. This matters to me because I am a hardworking student. When I grow up in this world, instead of good grades, I need to actually know the information that the teachers are giving to me. This matters to education, because for the next decade, we need the most educated thinkers the world has ever seen. Over the next 20-40 years, we are going to be responsible for running the world. If we are not ready for this responsibility because we are focused on grades rather than learning, the world will fail. Lastly, this matters to society because this world and our people deserve to have the best possible chance of success and it’s not going to happen if there are only a few that actually get all of the material they learn instead of just good grades. All in all, we really need to focus on how and what we teach to the future leaders for true success.
