Scientific Notation

(4.5 x 1011)(3.1 x 104)

When you see a problem like this, your wondering how to do it.
The first step, is to multiply the first numbers in the equation (4.5x3.1= 13.95).
The next step, is to NOT change that 10... just remember that.
THEN and only then... you add 11+4 which equals 15.
So far we have 13.95 x10-15-
then you move  1.395 the decimal place to the left one spot.
Then finally you change -15- to -16- since you moved the decimal place to the left, making it a smaller #
So to even it out, you end up with 1.395x10 -16-
